To better serve the community, the Asian American Attorneys Association (AAAA) continues to advance its “I AM HELPING” free legal service, holding community free legal consultations every month in Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn — providing professional, no-cost legal help to those in need. AAAA warmly welcomes more attorneys to join this pro bono effort and serve the community together.
This year, the Association has already held two free legal clinics. On June 2, Rachel Yi, an attorney with iLead Law Group, provided consultations to residents in Queens; on June 21, the clinic moved to the United Cultural Association (UCA) in Brooklyn, drawing many residents seeking legal advice.
At the June 21 clinic, attorneys from AAAA’s Pro Bono Committee — Co-Chairs Ed Yin and Shi Tang, together with Jinrui Zhang and Iris Yao — were on hand to provide free consultations. The questions raised spanned a wide range of legal matters, including real estate, immigration, civil disputes, defamation, and New York State Division of Human Rights investigations, among others. With so many residents coming for help, the four attorneys served continuously from 2 PM until past 5 PM, patiently answering every legal question raised.
AAAA will continue to host community free legal clinics each month at the following locations: the iLead office in Manhattan (99 Park Ave., Suite 830, New York, NY), the iLead Law Group office in Queens (136-20 38th Ave., Suite 9J, Flushing, NY 11354), and, in Brooklyn, the United Cultural Association and the office of Council Member Susan Zhuang.
Residents who need a free legal consultation are welcome to call 212-836-6055 to make an appointment. We also invite more fellow attorneys to join the “I AM HELPING” pro bono service and contribute their legal expertise to the community.
