On April 27, 2026, a delegation from the Asian American Attorneys Association (AAAA, chaired by attorney Yanfei Ran) and the Community Legal Aid Center of New York (CLAC, led by CEO Wilson Wong) traveled to the University of New Haven to pay their respects to the renowned Chinese-American forensic scientist Dr. Henry C. Lee, who passed away on March 27, 2026.
Held in a solemn atmosphere, the tribute honored Dr. Lee, who taught and conducted research at the University of New Haven for many years and made extraordinary contributions to forensic science. It honored not only his scientific achievements but the professional spirit and social responsibility his life embodied.
In her remarks, attorney Yanfei Ran described Dr. Lee as not only a world-renowned forensic expert but a model of a life devoted to professionalism, justice, and service. With rigorous scientific spirit he advanced modern forensic science, and with steadfast conviction he helped restore the truth in countless cases. “He showed the world that science can speak, evidence can testify, and justice can be restored.” As a legal practitioner and AAAA’s chair, she reflected on his profound influence on Asian American professionals — breaking bias through excellence and earning respect through merit, so that more Asian Americans are seen and recognized in law and public service.
Dr. Lee’s life, she added, was like a bridge — connecting East and West, uniting science and law, and binding professional achievement to personal character. He represented not only excellence but responsibility. She called on fellow members of the legal community to carry forward his spirit, to hold fast to truth and pursue justice.
CLAC CEO Wilson Wong then spoke, praising Dr. Lee’s contributions to advancing judicial fairness and community service, and the inspiration his example offers to community legal workers.
Mingli Chen, managing partner of iLead Law Group, P.C., reflected from a practitioner’s perspective on Dr. Lee’s lasting impact on evidence science and judicial practice, expressing deep respect for his professionalism and character.
More than a memorial, the visit was an act of carrying a legacy forward. Attendees pledged to follow Dr. Lee’s example — advancing their professions, upholding justice, and serving the public.
The person is gone, but the example endures. Dr. Lee’s scientific spirit and humanity will continue to inspire generations of legal and scientific professionals.
